Do I need to choose my Cash+® Categories each quarter?

Yes, each quarter you need to choose your Cash+ Categories. You earn 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in eligible net purchases each quarter on the combined two categories you choose. You earn 2% cash back on your choice of one everyday category, and 1% cash back on all your other eligible net purchases. You will begin earning additional cash back on eligible net purchases in your Cash+ Categories three business days after you make your selections. If you do not choose your Cash+ Categories each quarter, all your eligible net purchases will still earn 1% cash back. Cash+ Categories are subject to change quarterly.

When can I choose my current quarter's Cash+ Categories?

You can choose your Cash+ Categories up to five days before the end of the current quarter. You begin earning 5% and 2% cash back in your selected categories three business days after you activate them.

When can I choose my upcoming quarter's Cash+ Categories?

You can view and choose your Cash+ Categories beginning 45 days prior to the start of the upcoming quarter until five days before the end of the quarter. You begin earning 5% and 2% cash back in your selected categories three business days after you choose them.

Will Cash+ Categories change?

Cash+ Categories are subject to change quarterly. New categories offer a wide variety of choices to cardmembers throughout the calendar year.

Will I be reminded to choose my Cash+ Categories each quarter?

Yes! We will remind you to select your Cash+ Categories each quarter if you sign up for free reminders via text message or email at usbank.com/cashplus. Sign in and click the "Reminders" link in the navigation menu.

Can I change my Cash+ Categories after I've selected them?

If the new quarter is more than five days away, yes. You can change your upcoming quarter's Cash+ Categories until five days before the first day of the new quarter. After that, the quarter's Cash+ Categories are locked and cannot be changed.

How do I change my Cash+ Categories during the registration period?
  1. Online: Visit usbank.com/cashplus and click "Change Your Categories." (This option will be available if there are more than five days before the beginning of the upcoming quarter.)
  2. Phone: Call the number on the back of your U.S. Bank Cash+ Card and one of our Service Advisors will help you change your Cash+ Categories if there are more than five days before the beginning of the upcoming quarter.

Am I eligible to earn 5% and 2% cash back?

Only U.S. Bank Cash+ Cardmembers are eligible to choose Cash+ Categories and earn the additional cash back. See the Program Rules for additional details.

Note: This card is intended for consumer purchases only. If you want a card for business purchases, please contact Cardmember Services at 800.285.8585 or visit your local U.S. Bank branch to open an account intended for business purchases. We reserve the right to close card accounts not used in accordance with the Cardmember Agreement.

Will I earn 1% cash back on my purchases if I do not choose my Cash+ Categories?

Yes! If you do not select Cash+ Categories for a given quarter, you will still earn a full 1% on all eligible net purchases made during the quarter. You will not, however, be eligible to earn 5% or 2% cash back until your categories are chosen for the quarter.

When do I start earning cash back on my Cash+ Categories?

First, activate your new U.S. Bank Cash+ Card. After activation, choose your Cash+ Categories. You will begin earning 5% and 2% cash back three business days after selection. Please note that registration closes five days before the end of each quarter.

What is the maximum I can earn in my Cash+ Categories each quarter?

After choosing your Cash+ Categories, you will earn 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in combined net purchases (purchases minus returns or credits) in your two chosen 5% categories. Purchases over $2,000 in these categories will earn 1% cash back.

There are no limits on your 2% or 1% cash back earnings.

I made a purchase in a Cash+ Category on the last day of the quarter, but the transaction didn't post until after the quarter ended. Will I still earn the additional cash back?

Yes. Transactions earn cash back based on their transaction dates, not their posting dates.

How do I see what I earned in my Cash+ Categories?

The Cash+ summary section of your monthly credit card statement will show what you earned in your Cash+ Categories. For example, if the Cash+ Categories you selected were Gas Stations, Department Stores and Fast Food, your statement would include the following summary: "Gas, Dept Store, Fast Food."

Why didn't I earn cash back for a particular purchase?

Transactions qualify for 5% or 2% cash back based on how merchants classify the transaction. Since U.S. Bank cannot control how merchants choose to classify their transactions, we cannot guarantee that a specific transaction will qualify. For details, see the most current U.S. Bank Cash+ Program Rules at usbank.com/cashplus.

How do I find out how much cash back I have available to redeem?

You can see your total available cash back rewards online at any time. Log in to usbank.com and select "Rewards Center." Your cash back rewards balance will be posted there. You can also see your earnings, redemptions and available cash back on your monthly credit card statement.

What are my redemption options?

You can choose to redeem your cash back as a deposit into your U.S. Bank deposit account (Savings, Checking or Money Market), as a statement credit or as a U.S. Bank Rewards Card. There is a $25 minimum redemption on cash back. Redemption for U.S. Bank Rewards Cards must be in $5 increments. You can also enroll in Real-Time rewards to easily use back for purchases made with your Cash+ Visa card ($10 minimum).

What is the minimum redemption?

There is a $25 minimum redemption for deposits into your U.S. Bank deposit account (Savings, Checking or Money Market), statement credits. There is also a $25 minimum redemption ($5 increments) for U.S. Bank Rewards Cards and a $10 minimum for Real-Time Rewards.

How do I redeem?

You can redeem your cash rewards at any time online through the rewards center. Log in, select your U.S. Bank Cash+ account and select "Rewards Center" or call the Cardmember Services number on the back of your card.

If I choose to redeem my cash back as a statement credit, does my redemption count toward my minimum payment?

Redeeming your cash back rewards for a statement credit does not count as a payment and thus will not reduce your minimum payment. Your redemption will reduce your account balance, however.

Will my cash rewards expire?

Cash back will expire at the end of the calendar month 36 months after the billing cycle in which they were earned.

If I close my U.S. Bank Cash+ account, can I still redeem my cash back rewards?

Your U.S. Bank Cash+ account must be open and in good standing according to your Cardmember Agreement in order to redeem cash back. Any remaining cash back will be lost when an account is closed. Please call Cardmember Service at 800-285-8585 for inquiries about reopening a U.S. Bank Cash+ account.

What is Real-Time Rewards?

It's a new rewards redemption method that enables you to instantly turn your purchases into rewards. Your mobile device can be used to immediately redeem cash rewards in the form of a credit to your monthly billing statement.

How do I use Real-Time Rewards to redeem?

First, complete a 2-minute registration to set your preferences. Then, after you make a purchase that meets your preferences, and receive a text asking if you want to use cash rewards to redeem immediately after the purchase, simply reply 'REDEEM' to the message to complete the redemption. You must have enough cash rewards to cover the entire purchase in order to receive the text message to redeem. Your cash rewards will be deducted from your cash rewards balance and redeemed in the form of a credit to your monthly billing statement. See Program Rules for additional details.

Can I sign up multiple accounts for Real-Time Rewards with the same phone number?

Yes, you may assign a 10-digit U.S. mobile number to your accounts in good standing.

Can I sign up multiple phone numbers on the same account for Real-Time Rewards?

No. You may only assign one 10-digit U.S. mobile number per account.

I received Real-Time Redemption text messages after several consecutive purchases, how do I specify which one I want to redeem for?

You may only redeem against the most recent text message received.

Can I still redeem if the text message delivery is delayed?

The text message is sent at the time of the eligible purchase. You have 24 hours from the time the purchase is made to respond to the text message and redeem cash rewards.

Why didn't I receive a text message for my gas or restaurant purchase?

Most gas and restaurant purchases are not available for Real-Time redemption because they are often two-stage authorization processes. For instance, restaurant purchases often have a tip after the initial authorization.

Will I receive Real-Time Rewards text messages while I'm traveling internationally?

No, Real-Time Rewards text messages are available only for transactions with U.S. merchants.

Will I receive a Real-Time Rewards text message for my auto bill pay transactions?

You may receive a Real-Time Rewards text message for an auto bill pay transaction if the purchase falls within your preference selections.

Why is the Real-Time Rewards credit on my statement different from my transaction amount?

The statement credit may be different from your final purchase amount if the transaction included a gratuity, fees or estimated taxes.

How do I stop receiving text messages for Real-Time Rewards?

You can opt-out at any time by going online to the Rewards Center or by texting 'STOP' to REDEEM (733336) or by calling the Rewards Center at 844-357-2015. After you opt-out, you may still receive text messages for up to 24 hours. Please see Program Rules for additional details.
